First Lady Launches Character-based Parenting Campaign

First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo started a working visit to several regions in North Sumatra Province, on Tuesday (17/4). During this visit, she was accompanied by a number of spouses of Ministers of Working Cabinet joining in Organization of Solidarity Action of  Working Cabinet Era (OASE-KK).

The First Lady and her entourage departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, using Special Boeing 737-500 Air Force. Upon their arrival in North Sumatra Province, she immediately started her activities that became OASE-KK’s work programs.

First activity was started by observing the learning process of Toba Lestari early childhood education and development (PPAUD), located at Lumban Gaol Village, Balige District, Toba Samosir Regency.

Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo and her entourage also observed the implementation of early detection of cervical cancer using IVA (Inspection Visual of Acetic Acid) Method held at Laguboti Public Health Center, Laguboti District, Toba Samosir Regency.

Then, she attended ‘Dissemination of Say No to Drugs, Stop Violence and Pornography’ Event to Junior and High-School students in North Sumatra Province.

Dissemination of parenting skills featuring a theme ‘Character-based Parenting’ to PPAUD teachers, parents, and women’s organizations in Hall of SMK Negeri 1 Laguboti, Toba Samosir Regency concluded the activities of the day.

In each visit, the First Lady always took time to have a dialogue and conduct a question and answer session with the participants:  PAUD students, IVA test participants, junior high-school students, teachers, parents, as well as members of women’s organizations in North Sumatra Province.

Moreover, a number of prizes were given by Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo as a token of appreciation to the participants who can answer her questions. In addition to that, the surrounding community who welcomed her arrival along the way also received notebooks and batik cloths.

In the afternoon, the First Lady and her entourage headed to Samosir Regency to spend a night and will continue the working visit on the next day.

Joining First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo in this working visit were Chairman of OASE-KK Erni Guntarti Tjahjo Kumolo, Head of Division 1 of OASE-KK Ratna Megawangi Sofyan Djalil, Head of Division 3 of OASE-KK Nora Tristiyana Ryamizard Ryacudu, Secretary of OASE-KK Nugrahani Pramono Anung, and other members of OASE-KK.
