In Order Closer to People, President Will Have a Halfway House in Papua

To be closer to the community, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno revealed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will have a halfway house in Papua.

“From Presidential Palace side that requesting, because President Joko Widodo could be three or four times to get there in a year. That place going to be used for work and closer to the people,” Tejo said on the sidelines of a discussion entitled “Voice for Papua” at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, Wednesday (29/7).

Tedjo continue, the location of halfway house is still under study by a special team, but that obviously will not be as big as the other PresidentÂ’s work place, such as Bogor Palace.

“The important thing is how the President could be close to the people, and the public are easy to meet with him,” Tejo said.

Regarding the President’s security while in the halfway house, Tedjo said, it does not matter because President Jokowi assessed beloved by the people of Papua.

It is seen from the multitude of votes from Papuans to the President when the 2014 election “the biggest support comes from Papua,” Tejo said.

Moreover, according to him, President Joko Widodo in personally also never worried about his security issues during in Papua.

“So far, the President has always go down and close to the Papuans. He never felt there were things that threaten him there,” Tejo said in the discussion which also attended by former Minister of Transportation, Freddy Numberi and the Ambassador of Indonesia to the Philippines and former Military Commander VII / Trikora, Johny Lumintang.
