Kerjatati International Airport To be Operated on 8 June

Upon arriving at West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati, in Majalengka,West Java, on Thursday (24/5), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo stated that the airport is scheduled to commence commercial flights services on 8 June.

“Minister of Transportation has informed me that inshallah (God willing), on 8 June, commercial flights to start operating in this airport,” President Jokowi told the reporters.

The President said that the runways of Kertajati International Airport will be expanded to accomodate large planes. He will also push the development of Kertajati International Airport and other airports included in the national strategic program.

“Beside this airport, the development of Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018. Airport in Samarinda which is under construction will also be completed,” the President added.

As for New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA), Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta, President Jokowi expected the airport to be completed next year. Thus, many new airports can be operated ahead of Eid al-Fitr next year.
