After the opening of the 2017 National Symposium on Culture at Raflesia Ballroom, Balai Kartini, South Jakarta, Monday (20/11) afternoon, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo expresses his utmost appreciation, on behalf of the people of Indonesia, to TNI and Polri for freeing hostages in Tembagapura. They have been taken hostage by an armed criminal group that wants to make the people afraid.

On this occasion, the President explains that Indonesia applies an ethical politics which means a politics that develops noble values, not a politics that sneers and denounces others. It is fine to criticize other people but it must be done in a good manner.

Asked about the case of Setya Novanto, the President says that he has told him to follow the the legal procedures. In the meantime, concerning the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President explains that there is a mechanism that must be obeyed to dismiss a head of government institution.
