President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo asked the regional heads to participate in creating a conducive situation so that Indonesia becomes more developing. This was enunciated by the President when meeting with a number of regents in the Garuda Room of the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Thursday (5/7).

“The President has ordered that the people not be taught to think too complicated. Democracy belongs to the people. Let us create a safe, conducive condition,” said Regent of North Mamuju Agus Ambo Djiwa, one of the regents who attended the meeting with President Jokowi.

Agus asserted that the meeting which lasted for 2.5 hours starting at 09.00 am did not discuss the President’s directives related to the 2019 Presidential Election.

“Teach people democracy well so they understand what democracy is, what our goal of democracy is,” said Agus in regard to the President’s statement.

According to Agus, the President also asked that there should be no provoking language that could generate people not sympathetic to officials or to whoever.

“The President requested that the regional heads focus more on their work programs. We should focus on something. If we work on infrastructure, then just build infrastructure only, so that people can enjoy the results,”Agus said.

No Political Discussion

In line with Agus, Sidoarjo Regent SaifulIllah also said that there were no political talks in the meeting with President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace Bogor.

Pak President did not discuss politics,” Saiful said.

Saiful admitted that the regents delivered several things representing the community which were immediately responded very well by the President.

“We have submitted a proposal from the village heads that the budget to make certificate of the national agrarian program (prona) is raised considering the current budget of Rp150 thousand is not enough. Thus, it was considered to rise to Rp300 thousand,” Saiful concluded. (*/FID/ES) (MUR/MMB/YM/Naster).
