President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo said that terrorism has become a global issue. Other countries have laws that make it easier for law enforcers to take preventive action.

To that end, President Jokowi hopes that the Government and the House of Representatives (DPR RI) are to immediately complete the revision of the Anti-Terrorism Law so that law enforcers have a strong foundation in action and are able to make prevention efforts before the incident occurred. “This is the most important,” President Jokowi said after, together with Vice President Jusuf Kalla, reviewing the site of the bomb blast in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta on Thursday (25/5) evening.

President Jokowi reviewed the site of the bomb blast after visiting the wounded victims, who were being treated at the Kramat Jati Hospital, Jakarta.

President Jokowi asserted that considering the terror bomb incident in Kampung Melayu, the completion of the revision of the Anti-Terrorism Law is an urgent matter.

Therefore, the President continued, he also has ordered the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs to immediately complete the revision of the Anti-Terrorism Law. “So that the law enforcers have a strong foundation to take action, especially prevention action,” the President said.

While reviewing the site of the explosion, President Jokowi and First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo along with Vice President Jusuf Kalla and Ibu Mufidah Jusuf Kalla were accompanied by the Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, Chief of the Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan and Vice Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri) Comr.
