President Jokowi: Indonesia and Czech Republic are Old Friends

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday (17/9) hosted delegates of the Senate of Czech Republic at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

In his remarks, the President said that Indonesia and the Czech Republic are old friends. “The Czech Republic is one of the first European countries to recognize Indonesia’s independence,” he said.

President Jokowi also expressed gratitude for the Czech Republic’s support for Indonesia to become a non-permanent member at the UN Security Council for the period of 2019-2020. “We are committed to promoting cooperation with the Czech Republic in various sectors, especially trade and industry sector,” the President added.

In the meantime, Milan Stechm President of the Czech Republic Senate who led the delegation thanked President Jokowi for the Warm welcome given. “We appreciate this valuable moment,” he said.

Joining the President during the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs AM. Fachir (FID/JAY/ES)(HYP/EP/Naster)
