President Jokowi: TNI and Public are Inseparable

Buka Puasa di CilangkapPresident Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo stated that the challenges we are facing ahead are increasingly complex. Many new challenges emerge, both visible and invisible, in real life and the digital world. “The spread of terrorism and those who try to undermine the state ideology must be stopped. Do not let there be another victim,” President Jokowi said when giving a speech at a communal fast-breaking with the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) soldiers and civil servants of TNI Headquarters at the TNI Headquarter, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Monday (19/6) evening.

To that end, the President hopes the TNI continues to promote the mentality of defending the state, unity, and integrity. “The TNI and the people are like water and fish, inseparable. Therefore, make the peace to the people, let us promote tolerance among religious people, unity, and integrity,” the President said.

Ahead of Eid-el Fitr, President Jokowi asked TNI to give full support to the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to maintain public order and security. “People are waiting for our real work. Let us continue to increase our awareness and professionalism of work,” the President explained.

Previously, President Jokowi reminded all that as the state apparatus and soldiers of TNI, they bear a great responsibility.

Prsident Jokowi reiterated the message of Commander-in-Chief General Sudirman that the TNI is the national property that is always intact and unchanged in safeguarding the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila as well as strengthening the unity in diversity.

Also present at the event were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, former Vice President Try Sutrisno, Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, Chief Justice of Attorney General Prasetyo SH, the TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo, and TNI Chiefs of Staff.
