President Jokowi to Review Granting of National Hero Title to ’98 Activists

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo promises to follow-up a recommendation to give national hero title to the ‘98 Activists who died in the Trisakti, Semanggi I, and Semanggi II tragedies in 1998 reform movement.

“I will follow it up by several reviews according to the prevailing regulations. We will annouce the result and decision immediately,” President Jokowi said in his remarks during the closing of National Consultation of the ’98 Activists at the JI Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Saturday (7/7).

President Jokowi also promise to review the proposal of setting 7 July as the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Day.

“We will annouce the results when we are done deciding,” President Jokowi added.
