President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed his happiness over Indonesia’s automotive industry and the increasing automotive products, especially indeed to neighboring countries.

“But let’s see. If the prices are competitive, I supposed that our exports will be beyond Asia,” the President said after opening the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) at JI-Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Thursday (19/4).

Besides automotive product, the President, Indonesia has also seen its exports of assembled automotive components rise 13 times higher.

President Jokowi also expressed his belief the rising exports will provide more job opportunities, especially for small and medium industries that manufacture automotive components, be it main components and supporting components. “This industry will be very high and export-oriented,” the President said.

In terms of the design of those automotive products, according to President, it is very satisfactory. “This is done by our own people. Almost 100% of car interiors are done by our own country,” the President said.

President Jokowi further said the Government will also encourage custom-made products such as motorcycles that offer big opportunities both for exports and domestic market. “Small and medium industries can also do custom-made products, those which are handmade in terms of colors or design. I suppose it can be promising to be developed in the future,” the President concluded. (FID/JAY/ES).  (EP/YM/Naster)
