In a state visit to Egypt, President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (12\/18) met with the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb, at Mashiaket Al-Azhar, Cairo, marking an important step towards strengthening religious ties and enhancing educational cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival at Mashiaket Al-Azhar, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by Grand Sheikh Al-Tayeb, who also introduced a number of prominent Egyptian Islamic scholars.<\/p>\n

Afterward, President Prabowo and Grand Sheikh Al-Tayeb proceeded to have a meeting and discussion in the Grand Sheikh’s office.<\/p>\n

The meeting is expected to further emphasize the historical relations between Indonesia and Al-Azhar, which has served as an educational home for thousands of Indonesian students for decades, and underscore the central role of both countries in promoting peace and interfaith harmony in the global stage.<\/p>\n
