Massive legal reforms should be carried out immediately.<\/p>\n<p>The President mentioned three things that should be taken into account to restore public trust on justice and legal certainty. First, regulations management to generate high quality legal regulations.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The President affirmed that Indonesia is a state of law. It is not a state of regulations. Thus, the ministries as well as institutions should not focus only on producing a lot of regulations.\u0093It should produce high quality regulations that protect the people, not complicated, fair, and do not overlap,\u0094 the President said.<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Second, according to the President, legal reforms must include internal reforms in Attorney General\u0092s Office as well as Ministry of Law and Human Rights in order to provide professional services and law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u0093I ask all to carry out massive improvements in a number of service centers, such as immigration, correctional facility, Driver\u0092s License (SIM)\/Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK)\/Vehicle Ownership Book (BPKPB) services, including traffic ticket,\u0094 the President said and asked the related officers to ensure the services are free from illegal levy practices.\u0093I will always monitor the changes on the ground,\u0094 the President added.<\/p>\n<p>The President also asked to make breakthroughs in prevention and settlement of legal cases, such as corruption, human rights violation, smuggling, forest and land fires, and drug crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Third, one thing that must get attention is to establish legal culture. \u0093Legal culture strengthening must become the priority to solve the problems of intolerance as well as vigilantism attitudes and violence,\u0094 the President said.<\/p>\n<p>The Limited Meeting was attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly, Minister of Defence Ryamizard Ryacudu, Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara, Commander of Indonesian National Defence Forces Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo, and Indonesia National Police Chief Gen.
