(Photo: PR\/Jay)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>President Joko \u0093Jokowi\u0094 Widodo requested to develop a data system for taxation information which is more reliable, integrated, and simpler, not too complicated or convoluted. In addition, it is also necessary to develop a tax information technology system that makes it easy for taxpayers and can be guaranteed its security.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am convinced that the modernization of taxation information technology will become one of the important pillars of tax reform that we are rolling out,&#8221; President Jokowi said in his introductory remarks at the Limited Meeting on the Modernization of Taxation Information Technology, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (20\/6) afternoon.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to the President, after the tax amnesty program came to an end, we already have a solid foundation to improve the database of taxpayer. However, the President reminded all that the improvement of taxpayer database is not enough.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Directorate General of Taxation needs to prepare an accurate and integrated data and information management system. So that the system of taxation, population system, financial system, and other relevant systems can be well-integrated,&#8221; President Jokowi explained.<\/p>\n<p>The preparation for a more reliable information system, the President added, is urgent because Indonesia has a commitment to join the 139 other countries in the world within the framework of sharing the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI).<\/p>\n<p>Currently, according to the President, as many as 90 countries have signed multilateral competent authority agreement. &#8220;Indonesia also has a firm commitment to this issue with the issuance of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 1 of 2017 on Access to Financial Information for Tax Interest,&#8221; President said.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, the President asked to seize this momentum to be utilized as well as possible to build a more comprehensive, integrated tax information data system. &#8220;I am convinced that the reformation and modernization of the tax information technology system will be very beneficial to our efforts to increase the tax ratio, then encourage tax compliance voluntarily, and prevent tax evasion,&#8221; President Jokowi concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The Limited Meeting was attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of the Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Asman Abnur, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Attorney General Prasetyo, and the Indonesian National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian, as well as Commissioners of the Indonesian Corruption Eradicatin Commission (KPK).
