During his two-day working visit to Singapore, President Jokowi met with around 1,600 Indonesian citizens living in Singapore. The gathering was held at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on Wednesday evening (6\/9).<\/p>\n

On that occasion, President Jokowi explained that there are currently six million Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) working in various countries; thus it is understandable if from those 6 million migrant workers, a fraction of them are facing problems. <\/p>\n

\u0093In every country, there must at least one or two Indonesian migrant workers who are facing problems,\u0094 the President said, adding that the problems can come from their work places, their dishonest employers, or from those migrant workers themselves.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi called on migrant workers in Singapore to maintain Indonesia\u0092s positive image. \u0093So if you are having a problem, please report it to the (Indonesian) Embassy. I\u0092ve told the Ambassador and Minister of Foreign Affairs that should those Indonesian migrant workers are facing problems, please resolve them immediately,\u0094 President Jokowi said.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also told Indonesian migrant workers in Singapore who still have problems to solve them before returning to Indonesia. \u0093Matters related to salaries or legal matters must be solved first in order to avoid problems in the future. We want that all our migrant workers abroad, once again, can maintain Indonesia\u0092s positive image. So let us together do so,\u0094 the President said.<\/p>\n

In another part of his remarks, President Jokowi also mentioned the progress of various infrastructure development, such as toll roads, seaports, airports, as well as border posts (PLBN). The President also showed the latest condition of Aruk Border Post, Nanga Badau Border Post, Entikong Border Post, Motaain Border Post, and Motamasin Border Post. \u0093If we had not done this infrastructure development, we would not be confident. Now we must be confident because we are better now,\u0094 the President said.<\/p>\n

For the record, during the working visit in Singapore, in addition to meeting Indonesian citizens in the country, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media Affairs of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin in his press release on Wednesday (6\/9) stated that President Jokowi is also scheduled to attend the Annual Leaders Meeting\u00a0with Singaporean Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong. Both leaders are expected to discuss a number of issues, including measures to promote cooperation in investment, tourism, energy, and digital economy sectors between the two countries during the meeting.<\/p>\n

In addition, the President\u0092s visit to Singapore also marked the 50th<\/sup> Anniversary of Indonesia \u0096 Singapore diplomatic relations and the 50th<\/sup> Anniversary of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).<\/p>\n

Joining the President in the working visit were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, while Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi has already been in Singapore.\u00a0(BPMI Setpres\/ES)<\/strong> (ES)<\/strong> (EP\/YM\/Naster)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
