President Joko \u0093Jokowi\u0094 Widodo along with the entourage arrived in Jakarta after attending the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Extraordinary Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, to discuss Palestinian issues.<\/p>\n

Arriving at around 12:30 pm Western Indonesian Time in the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, Thursday (14\/12), President Jokowi accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla and the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan gave his statement. <\/p>\n

In addition, also seen welcoming the arrival of President Jokowi and First Lady Ibu<\/em> Iriana were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian, Army Chief of Staff (KASAD) Gen. Mulyono, Navy Chief of Staff (KASAL) Adm. Ade Supandi and the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.<\/p>\n

In his press statement, the President expressed hope that the meeting will result in real action and the OIC member countries can seek a deeper struggle in responding to the situation in Palestine in the UN Security Council. “In the UN Security Council, the OIC countries should be able to ensure an open debate meeting on the situation in Palestine,” he said.<\/p>\n

In another part of the press conference, President Jokowi also called on the OIC member countries to fully support the Palestinian effort to gain membership status in a number of international organizations. In this case, the OIC member countries are expected to start lobbying for other countries. “The OIC member countries must also support every Palestinian nomination in membership in various international organizations and should start lobbying support for non-aligned movement countries,” he added.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the President explained that the OIC Extraordinary Summit, held on Wednesday, resulted in a number of agreements.<\/p>\n

“First, an OIC resolution on Al-Aqsa. Second, the final communiqu\u00e9 of OKI, and the third the Istanbul declaration,” he said.<\/p>\n

Previously, President Joko Widodo delivered six important points related to the proposed attitude of the OIC member countries. The six important points were re-delivered by the President when giving a press statement in Jakarta.<\/p>\n

First, the OIC must expressly reject the unilateral recognition. According to the President, two-state solution is the only solution with East Jerusalem as the capital city of Palestine.<\/p>\n

Second, the President invites all countries that have the Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, not to follow the decision of the United States to move their embassy to Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

Third, the OIC can serve as a motor to mobilize supports from countries that have not yet recognized the Palestinian independence, then recognize it immediately.<\/p>\n

Fourth, the OIC member countries that have relations with Israel take diplomatic measures, including the possibility of reviewing relations with Israel in accordance with various OIC Resolutions.<\/p>\n

Fifth, OIC member countries should take steps together to increase humanitarian aid, capacity building and economic cooperation to the Palestinians.<\/p>\n

Sixth, the President hopes the OIC should be able to become a motor for the movement in various international and multilateral forums to support Palestine.
