Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull praised the success of President Joko \u0093Jokowi\u0094 Widodo in leading a multicultural country like Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister made the statement his remarks before students who joined the Outstanding Youth for the World (OYTW) at the Exhibition Hall, International Convention Center, Sydney, Saturday (17\/3).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u0093Standing next to me is a President who successfully cares for diversity in his country and demonstrates leadership in Indonesia, I can say, a mix of democracy, Islam and moderation. He is one of the world’s leading role models today,\u0094 Turnbull said.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi and Prime Miniser Turnbull took the opportunity to meet the students on the sidelines of their schedule to attend the 2018 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit.<\/p>\n

\u0093So why do Prime Minister of Australia and me President of Indonesia meet you today on the sidelines of busy schedule at the ASEAN-Australia Summit? Because you are the future and one day you will lead the world,\u0094 President Jokowi said.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi added that Indonesia and Australia are both multicultural countries; thus, he hopes the younger generation from the two countries can adopt the values of tolerance and peace.<\/p>\n

\u0093Being a diverse society is wonderful. It would be wonderful if we all respect each other. I hope you adopt a value of tolerance and peace from a young age,\u0094 the President added.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Prime Minister Turnbull added that Indonesia and Australia are two countries that both united by the values of the political, democratic freedom, and mutual respect.<\/p>\n

After both leaders gave their speech, the students shook hands with the two leaders, introducing themselves and tooking pictures with President Jokowi and Prime Minister Turnbull.<\/p>\n

For the record, Outstanding Youth for the World is a program dedicated to achievers of Indonesian youths to have the opportunity to play a role in supporting promotion and enhancement of Indonesia’s image abroad.<\/p>\n

In the program, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs tries to engage Indonesian youths with religious achievements to participate in interfaith dialog.<\/p>\n

The involvement of youth in interfaith dialog is a commitment from the Indonesian government to continuously develop prospective leaders to be involved in maintaining world peace and unity.<\/p>\n

The OYTW program also covers curriculum on Indonesian foreign policy and politics, Indonesia-Australia cooperation, and public speaking. On a series of activities in Australia, the participants will have an interactive dialog with the Consulate General of Indonesia in Sydney, a visit to the Muslim community in Sydney and visits to schools in Sydney.<\/p>\n

The program is expected to enrich insight and the wealth of knowledge the students regarding diversity and cooperation among nations.<\/p>\n
