The construction of section I and section II of Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road spanning 28.5 kilometers are expected to be finished by the end of 2019, according to Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono when inspecting the twin tunnels in Section II of the Toll Road, Thursday (25\/4).<\/p>\n

\u0093The diameter of each tunnel is 14 meters and the length of each tunnel is 472 meters, of which 280 meters of the right side and 376 meters of the left side have been finished. Hopefully the left side will be finished by August and the right side will be finished by the end of this year,\u0094 Basuki said.
\n
\nFor the record, the budget earmarked for the twin tunnels amounts to Rp890 Billion.<\/p>\n

The 61.6 kilometer Cisumdawu Toll Road is divided into six sections. Construction of Sections I and II stretching from Cileunyi to Sumedang are funded by the State Budget and a loan from the Chinese Government as a part of the Viability Gap Fund (VGF) to improve the feasibility of the toll investment, while Section III-VI, spanning 32.6 kilometers, are constructed by toll road business entity (BUJT) PT Citra Karya Jabar Tol.<\/p>\n

The construction of Section 2 (17.05 kilometers) is divided into two phases. The construction of phase I of Ranca Kalong-Ciherang with the length of 6.35 kilometers was completed in 2017, while the progress of phase II of Ciherang-Sumedang with the length of 10.7 kilometers is 37.03%, faster than 32.38% as expected before.<\/p>\n

Eleven point four kilometers of Section I is still in the stage of land acquisition and the overall progress of land acquisition done by the Government is 83%, while the progress of land acquisition done by the BUJT is 93%.<\/p>\n

The Cisumdawu Toll Road is expected to increase the mobility of goods and services from the northern and western parts of West Java Province as it connects the existing Purwakarta-Bandung-Cileunyi (Purbaleunyi) Toll Road with Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road.<\/p>\n

The Cisumdawu Toll Road is also expected to provide access to the under-construction Kertajati International Airport in Majalengka city.<\/p>\n

The Minister added that the construction of the toll road will be accelerated following the operation of Kertajati Airport. Basuki also expressed his optimism that the sections constructed by BUJT will be finished faster as there is no tunnel in the sections. The total investment for the four sections constructed by BUJT is Rp8.7 trillion.<\/p>\n

The construction of section 3 has been started while the construction of other sections is still in the process of land acquisition. Construction of four kilometers of section 3 is expected to be completed in March next year.<\/p>\n

The total number of workers involved in the construction of Cisumdawu Toll Road is 1,202 people, 70 of whom are skilled workers from China who work along with experts from Indonesia in the tunnel construction.<\/p>\n
