It is based on Article 171 paragraph (3) of Law Number 7 of 2017 on General Election.<\/p>\n<p>\u0093Permission from the President means document that must be required by heads of regions deciding or is proposed by political party for presidential or vice presidential candidates,\u0094 Head of Information Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs Bahtiar said. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Bahtiar added that Article 171 paragraph (3) of General Election reads as follow, \u0093Letter of request for permission of governor, vice governor, regent, vice regent, mayor, and deputy mayor as referred to in paragraph (1) shall be submitted to the General Elections Commission (KPU) by Political Parties or Coalition of Political Parties as document required for a candidate for President or Vice President\u0094.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in paragraph (1), it reads that person who serves as governor, deputy governor, regent, vice regent, mayor, and deputy mayor who will be nominated by a Political Party or Combined Political Parties in the Election as a candidate for President or Vice President shall request permission to the President.<\/p>\n<p>Bahtiar added that according to Article 171, the letter of request for permission will be proceed at a maximum of 15 days. However, he asserted that the request is only submitted to the President.<\/p>\n<p>\u0093According to Article 171 paragraph (3), if (the President) has not given permission, while the request for permission has been submitted, the permit for the aforementioned head of region is considered to have been given by the President,\u0094 Bahtiar added.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, the KPU has opened the registration of candidates for President and Vice President for the 2019 Presidential Election. According to the schedule, registration will be open from 4 to 10 August 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Considering we are getting close to the time, political parties began to select several names to be proposed as candidates for President and Vice President.
