Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto<\/p><\/div>\n

The Indonesian Government reaffirms its commitment to resolve past human rights cases and the process of resolving the cases is underway, according to Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto.<\/p>\n

The Minister made the statement after attending a meeting with Budget Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta, Wednesday (5\/9).
\n<\/p>\n

“We are serious about resolving past human right violations and the process is underway,” Wiranto said, adding that the Government does not delay the process and the provisions of law are needed to resolve the cases.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Wiranto explained that the Government works hand in hand with the National Commission on Human Rights and the Attorney General to resolve the cases through judicial or non-judicial settlements.<\/p>\n

\u0093The Government does not delay the process, let alone close the cases. We are committed to resolving the cases through judicial or non-judicial settlements\u0094, Wiranto added.<\/p>\n

Wiranto further said that the Government has been analyzing past human rights cases. Most of the cases, according to Wiranto, cannot be solved through judicial settlement due to lack of evidence.<\/p>\n
