(Photo by: Jay\/Public Relations).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Discussing transportation system in Greater Jakarta should not talk about the transportation system itself but should also touch on the issue of city plans such as settlements, determining area to be developed, and interconnection with other cities, according to Vice President Jusuf Kalla.<\/p>\n<p>\u0093Since there are so many modes of transportation such as trains, commuter rail, LRT, MRT, regular bus, BRT, it is up to us how to synchronize it in one operation,\u0094 the Vice President said during a meeting on Integration of Intermodal Transportation Systems in the Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) at the Office of the Vice President, Jakarta, Monday (28\/1).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Because The MRT and LRT are still in the construction process, the Vice President urged related institutions to complete and synchronize each regional spatial plan (RTRW). \u0093Later, we will establish the (transportation) authority to resolve it,\u0094 the Vice President said, adding that the capabilities of the current authority should be improved.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, to integrate transportation system in Greater Jakarta, Rp600 trillion is needed, he said The fund can be taken from the State Budget (APBN), the Regional Budget (APBD), or a private investment and for an investment period of 10 year, Kalla added.<\/p>\n<p>The Authority Agency, according to the Vice President, will coordinate intermodal integration between cities in Greater Jakarta and encourage private vehicle users to switch to public transportation. \u0093As the infrastructure is getting better and private cars are getting cheaper, people will tend to use private cars.
