The Indonesian Government through Minister of Law and Human Rights and Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) will conduct restructuring of the TNI.<\/p>\n

The restructuring is carried out in order to give room for approximately 60 new positions for high-ranking officers to be filled from those who now have the rank of colonel.<\/p>\n

\u0093(The new positions) are on one-star rank, two-star rank, and three-star rank,\u0094 President Joko \u0091Jokowi\u0092 Widodo told reporters after opening the 2019 TNI-Polri (Indonesian National Police) Leadership Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (29\/1).<\/p>\n

The revision of the retirement age limit for the TNI members will also be carried out by the Government, especially for privates and non-commissioned officers, currently 53 to 58 years. However, the Government has to revise the Law fist so that the retirement age limit revision can be implemented.<\/p>\n

The revision of the retirement age limit will be made because according to the President, the 53-year-old is still fit and productive. Furthermore, the Government also wants to level the retirement age limit of the TNI with the Indonesian National Police (Polri), which is 58 years.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, President Jokowi also said that the TNI and Polri must respond quickly to the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.<\/p>\n

\u0093Maybe by intensifying research for our defense equipment,\u0094 he said, citing example from other countries that have used virtual reality, Artificial Intelligence, and 3D printing in their military development. (FID\/JAY\/ES)<\/strong><\/p>\n
