MRT Jakarta, and Member of the Medan Merdeka Region Development Steering Commission to obtain a comprehensive review from various stakeholders,\u0094 said the Ministry\u0092s Assistant Deputy for Public Relations Eddy Cahyono Sugiarto in a press release, Friday (1\/2).<\/p>\n<p>Eddy\u0092s statement is in response to DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan\u0092s statement stating that the groundbreaking of the second phase of construction for MRT groundbreaking was initially slated to be done in January this year. However, the groundbreaking was hampered because the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had not yet received approval from Ministry of State Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>\u0093This is because the pathway of the second phase of MRT construction passes through the Merdeka Medan Area. Under Presidential Decree Number 25 of 1995 on the Development of the Medan Merdeka Area, the development in the said area must first obtain approval from Ministry of State Secretariat,\u0094 Anies told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday (1\/2).<\/p>\n<p>In order to have the recommendation issued, Eddy went on to explain that the Ministry still needs a thorough study from PT. Jakarta MRT, as well as opinions from relevant ministries\/institutions, such as the addendum of the Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL) made in 2011, analysis of traffic, as well as security assessment of national vital objects.<\/p>\n<p>However, Eddy surmised that delay in issuing the recommendation regarding the Station and Substation in the Monas area and the end point of the second phase of MRT Project Development should not hamper the groundbreaking of the project.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, the second phase of the construction of MRT is expected to connect Hotel Indonesia roundabout to Kampung Bandan, with the first phase from the Hotel Indonesia roundabout to Jakarta Kota Station in West Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The total cost to build the second phase of MRT construction is estimated to reach Rp25 trillion.
