(Photo by: Ministry of Home Affairs)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>All Indonesian citizens must have self-awareness and be proactive to record their identities for electronic Identity Cards (e-KTP) at the Civil Registration Agency in their respective regencies\/cities, unless they will lose their rights to vote in the upcoming Simultaneous Elections on 17 April 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The decision is an implication of provisions in Law on General Elections, and the Constitutional Court&#8217;s decision.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u0093E-KTP or statement letter that confirmed that the identities have been recorded is the requirement to participate in the 2019 Elections as mandated in Law on General Elections and the Constitutional Court&#8217;s decision,\u0094 Director General of Population and Civil Registration Agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, said at his office, on Saturday (6\/4).<\/p>\n<p>Zudan went on to say that the national database has recorded that e-KTP recording has reached 98.22 percent nationalwide. It means citizens who have not recorded their identities is only 1.78 percent compared to the total population.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the data published on March 2019, out of 31,002,554 people eligible for identity card in East Java Province, 30,952,842 people or 99.84 percent have recorded their identity. As for Central Kalimantan Province, Zudan said out of the total 1,821,014 people eligible for identity card in that province, 92.47 percent or 1,683,872 have recorded their e-KTP.<\/p>\n<p>In order to address the problem on national e-KTP recording in all provinces, including East Java and Central Kalimantan, the Director General confirmed that his office will continue to take several measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u0093Population and Civil Registration Agency will work proactively to accelerate the service, for example by visiting detention centers \/ prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, Islamic boarding schools to record people\u0092s identity until the election day.
