State-owned infrastructure financing company PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) and Bloomberg Philanthropies on Monday (8\/4) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on collaboration in capital market infrastructure, sustainable cities, government innovations, and other aspects related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Indonesian Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani witnessed the signing ceremony held at the Bloomberg Philanthropies headquarters in New York, the US. <\/p>\n

For the record, Bloomberg Philanthropies works to ensure better, longer lives for the greatest number of people by focusing on five key areas: the arts, education, the environment, government innovation and public health.<\/p>\n

\u0093Collaboration is very important. If we work alone even with full strength and determination, the results will not be as satisfactory as those from collaboration. Though collaboration, we will make changes to achieve progress,\u0094 Sri Mulyani said, while expressing her support to PT SMI as one of the Ministry\u0092s Special Mission Vehicle (SMV).<\/p>\n

The Government, according to Sri Mulyani, will continue to support and encourage PT SMI to explore opportunities for cooperation and expand networks of greater funding commitments. Thus, she added, PT SMI as a catalyst for development can produce a variety of social economic benefits that are more equitable for the welfare of the Indonesian people.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Bloomberg Philanthropies will provide technical assistance and advice to PT SMI, exchange ideas, and facilitate discussions for the Regional Head in decision-making and in implementing policies to develop sustainable cities in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

In addition to signing an MoU, PT SMI is also working with Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Indonesian Philanthropy Association (PFI) to hold a sharing session in New York regarding implementing programs so that the sustainable development in the SDGs framework in Indonesia can be materialized.<\/p>\n

\u0093SDG Indonesia One will produce better execution of infrastructure provision so that it can transform needs into opportunities for many stakeholders who participate in various infrastructure projects in Indonesia,\u0094 said PT SMI President Director Emma Sri Martini.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Head of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Environmental Programs Division Antha William said that Indonesia is a good example of collaboration between communities, the Government, private sector and philanthropy in sustainable development.<\/p>\n
