President Jokowi receives Megawati and Try Sutrisno at the Merdeka Palace, Tuesday (21\/5).<\/p><\/div>\n

President Joko \u0091Jokowi\u0092 Widodo on Tuesday (21\/5) received Indonesian fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri and Indonesian sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno at the Merdeka Palace.<\/p>\n

\u0093They both congratulated me for the KPU\u0092s (the Indonesian General Elections Commission) announcement from (which stated) Jokowi and Ma’ruf Amin (as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for 2019-2024),\u0094 President Jokowi said.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also congratulated Megawati\u0097who is also Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P)\u0097for gaining the most votes in the legislative elections. \u0093For a total of 19.33 percent,\u0094 he added.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Megawati said that both her and Try Sutrisno\u0092s visit was indeed intended to be the first to congratulate the President for the election results.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Try Sutrisno expressed hopes that in the second administration, President Jokowi could continue to build the nation and in the same time re-uniting the country after the election.<\/p>\n

\u0093If we unite we can be strong, but if we don’t unite it will weaken us and it is dangerous,\u0094 Try said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the issue of order and security after the election was touched upon by journalists. However, the President dismissed the journalist\u0092s concerns on post-election security by asserting that the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) are ready to maintain the order.<\/p>\n
