(Photo by: Ministry of Transportation)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi instructed State-owned toll operator Jasa Marga to coordinate with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas), to apply traffic engineering discretion in a number of toll roads in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area due to traffic congestion caused by Eid holiday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today, the anticipation is a bit late. I have assigned Jasa Marga to quickly apply the discretion,&#8221; said the Minister at Kampung Rambutan bus station, East Jakarta, Thursday (6\/6).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to Budi, the implementation of contraflow and one-way systems is effective to break down the congestion.<br \/>\n&#8220;In case of a more than 3-km traffic jam, we will apply 1-lane contraflow. If the traffic jam persists, we will apply 2-lane contraflow, then one-way system. The traffic to Bogor, today, has the same dynamic as the D-7 of Eid al-Fitr, but within 30 minutes we were able to control it,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister stated that the contraflow and the one-way systems would still be the choice to anticipate the backflow traffic for the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will implement a 3-days one-way system on 7, 8, and 9 June from Brebes Km 263 to Cikampek Km 70 and 1 or 2-lane contraflow from Cikampek Km 70 to Km 29. However, the plan is rather flexible.,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, to avoid traffic congestion, the Minister also asked travelers not to use the shoulder of the road as a place to stop except in an emergency. The travelers who want to take a break should choose other options, such as getting out of the toll road and stopping by the cities they are passing through.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, Budi urged the public who would use buses as a mode of transportation to choose buses that had passed the feasibility test. He firmly asked the Police to take direct action on buses that were not roadworthy but still operating.<br \/>\nIn addition, he also asked the Transportation Local Offices (Dishub) to cooperate with the Regional Police, to monitor the roads passed by the buses.
