President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has asked all parties to let the police investigate the tragic loss of life during the 21-22 May Jakarta riots.<\/p>\n

“Let the police finish the murder case,” President Jokowi told reporters after an inspection on the construction of the Muara Nusa Dua Reservoir Tourism Area in Denpasar, Bali, Friday (14\/6).<\/p>\n

The President explained that the case is under investigation along with another case of the riots.<\/p>\n

“Both cases are under investigation. Along with the police, we can also invite the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) and others to join the investigation,” he stated.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (Kontras) Feri Kusuma suggested the formation of the Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) on 21-22 May riots to find the mastermind, the responsible parties behind the riots.<\/p>\n

“We encourage the President to form an independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) on 21-22 May riots,” Feri said, in Jakarta, Wednesday (12\/6).<\/p>\n

Previously, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian said that the formation of TGPF was not yet needed because the National Police has formed an investigation team led directly by the National Police General Supervision Inspectorate (Irwasum Polri).<\/p>\n

The Police Chief ensured that the team will work more efficiently than the external team, as it is easier for the Police team to find internal information. The Police team, Tito added, works in parallel with the National Commission on Human Rights for the investigation.<\/p>\n

“We entrust the National Commission on Human Rights and the investigation team to be able to investigate the internal institution. As an outsider, it will be more difficult for the TGPF to conduct (the investigation),” Tito said, in Jakarta, Thursday (13\/6). (AIT\/AGG\/ES)<\/strong><\/p>\n
