{"id":164727,"date":"2019-07-27T22:44:40","date_gmt":"2019-07-27T15:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.setkab.go.id\/?p=164727"},"modified":"2019-08-02T13:48:47","modified_gmt":"2019-08-02T06:48:47","slug":"balis-airport-to-prioritize-international-flights-to-boost-foreign-tourist-arrivals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/en\/balis-airport-to-prioritize-international-flights-to-boost-foreign-tourist-arrivals\/","title":{"rendered":"Bali\u2019s Airport to Prioritize International Flights to Boost Foreign Tourist Arrivals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Bandara-Ngurah-Rai-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-164266\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-164266\" src=\"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Bandara-Ngurah-Rai-2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Bandara-Ngurah-Rai\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>In a bid to boost the number of foreign tourist arrivals to the resort island of Bali, the island\u2019s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport will make international flights a priority for take-off and landing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch measure will be in place during \u2018golden time\u2019 from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. for international flights,\u201d Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said on Friday (26\/7).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to Budi, the move comes as a follow-up\u00a0to President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo\u2019s directives to boost the number of tourists visiting the island and to improve facilities at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>Budi added that the ministry will also add flight slots for international routes at the airport and limit the ground time no more than three hours. \u201cWe hope to increase the capacity of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport by 30%,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Budi went on to say that there would also be restrictions on flights with ATR-72 aircraft at Bali\u2019s airport. \u00a0\u201cWe will create a cluster system in which planes from small cities will not land in Bali, except for those cities that are only reached by ATR-72 aircraft,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, nine foreign airlines from Japan, Taipei, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Australia, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Malaysia have announced plans to open new direct flights to Bali.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe average number of passengers from these nine flights is 200-300 passengers per flight, so there will be an additional 2000 people every day. Therefore, I ask all relevant parties to cooperate to smooth the process,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>To date, there are 34 foreign airlines with 47 flight routes serving at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. As for domestic flights, there are currently eight domestic airlines with 22 flight routes.<\/p>\n<p>I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport\u00a0is the second\u00a0busiest airport in Indonesia\u00a0after\u00a0Soekarno\u2013Hatta International Airport.
