Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II Elevated Toll Road is expected to be in operation by the end of November 2019 to accommodate traffic flow during Christmas and New Year holidays, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono has announced.<\/p>\n

“The load test will begin on 23 September 2019. Thus, by November 2019, we plan to start the operational (of the toll road),” the Minister of said during an inspection of Japek II Elevated Toll Road on Km 13, Thursday (19\/9).<\/p>\n

The progress of the 36.4 Km toll road construction has reached 96.5%, while, the load test will be carried out using 16 trucks weighing 40 tons each, consisting of static and dynamic tests.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister, construction of this toll road is a big project, adding that there are around 9,000 piles built in the construction of the toll road, making it the longest bridge in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

“This toll road is also monitored by the Bridge and Tunnel Safety Commission (KKJTJ),” Basuki stated.<\/p>\n

The Japek II Elevated Toll Road, he added, is also expected to increase the capacity of the existing Japek Toll Road and will also separate the short-distance traffic flow from the long one.<\/p>\n

Short distance vehicles will use Japek Toll Road, while the long-distance vehicles will use Japek II Elevated Toll Road, he said.<\/p>\n

Japek II Elevated Toll Road is located in part of the existing Japek Toll Road, from Cikuning to West Karawang sections (Km 9.5 to 47.5). The operation of the toll road will be carried out by Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) PT. Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC), a subsidiary of PT. Jasa Marga.<\/p>\n

Basuki also expressed his appreciation for PT. Jasa Marga and the contractors namely PT. Waskita Karya, PT. ACSET, and PT. Bukaka, and the Japek II Elevated Toll Road consultants which could complete the construction according to the intended target.<\/p>\n

“The work was successfully done within a short time and no work was allowed on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, Occupational Health and Safety (K3) factors could also be well maintained so that there can be zero accidents or no fatal work accidents,” Basuki said.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, President Director of PT. Jasa Marga Desi Arryani said that PT. Jasa Marga proposed that the Japek II Elevated Toll Road should be used only for class I vehicles, namely small cars and buses.<\/p>\n

“According to its structure, the toll can be passed by all classes of vehicles. However, we have considered its safety factors due to many trucks are still classified as ODOL (over dimension over load) with very low speed, risk of tire breaking, and so on,” Desi said.
