Commemorating the National Railway Day, the State Railway Company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) on Saturday, 28 September, 2019 in Bandung, West Java, officially launched the Special Train for its customers. The launching ceremony was attended by, among others, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.<\/p>\n

The Special Train is a Diesel Train (KRD) which consists of two series that can be used for MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) activities, including working meeting, family gathering, or reunion. The price for the Special Train is around Rp19 million for 40 passengers.

\nThis Special Train was previously Kedung Sepur Train which was converted into inspection train. In August 2019, PT KAI overhauled the interior of the train and made it a Special Train. The manufacturing process was conducted at Balai Yasa Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n

“This is a good innovation from PT. KAI. The train was non-operation train, but it can be turned into a premium train, the departure of which can be arranged according to the needs of passengers,” the Minister said.<\/p>\n

Budi added that in the future, PT KAI will be more independent and will be able to continuously make new innovations and breakthroughs in creating financing opportunities for the sustainability of its business.<\/p>\n

“The innovations and breakthroughs will greatly help the Government in allocating the State Budget for development in other areas,” Budi added.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, CEO of PT KAI Edi Sukmoro said that the Special Train series consisted of two diesel trains with a total capacity of 40 passengers. The schedule can be adjusted to the need of customers because it is not connected to regular train travel.<\/p>\n

The train is managed by KAI’s subsidiary, PT KA Wisata. For the initial stage, the train can be ordered for medium-distance trip such as Jakarta-Cirebon, Jakarta-Bandung, and Jakarta-Semarang.<\/p>\n

The Special Train has several facilities such as meeting rooms, lounges, minibar, karaoke, prayer rooms, toilets, family room, and television room.<\/p>\n

“For Jakarta-Bandung route, the price is Rp19 million for 40 passengers,” Edi said. (Public Relations of Ministry of Transportation\/ES)<\/p>\n
