Laoly, the Government has appointed Tjahjo Kumolo as acting minister until the term of office of the Working Cabinet for the 2014-2019 period ends on 20 October.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment of Tjahjo Kumolo \u2013 the current Minister of Home Affairs &#8211; \u00a0is necessary to ensure no disruption in the implementation of tasks and functions of Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Government added.<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported, Yasonna has tendered his resignation letter to President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo on 27 September 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The resignation came as Yasonna is inaugurated as member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) for North Sumatra electorate district I for the 2019 \u2013 2024 period.<\/p>\n<p>After his resignation, President Jokowi on 30 September 2019 issued Presidential Decree Number 99\/P of 2019 on Dismissal and Appointment of Task, Authority, and Responsibility of Minister of Law and Human Rights for the 2014 \u2013 2019 Period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(This presidential decree is) to honorably dismiss Yasonna H. Laoly as Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Working Cabinet for the 2014-2019 period, accompanied by gratitude for service and devotion to the nation and the state during his tenure,\u201d reads the Decree.<\/p>\n<p>Also stated in the decree \u2013 which applies on 1 October 2019 &#8211; is \u00a0the appointment of Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo as acting Minister.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, under Article 23 letter a of Law Number 39 of 2018 on State Ministry, a minister is prohibited from holding double positions as other state officials in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations.
