(Photo by: Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing PR).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In a bid to support the Patimban Port operational, the Government has constructed an 8.2 kilometer access road to the Port in Subang, West Java.<\/p>\n<p>The Patimban Port is projected to become the largest international port in the country in addition to the Tanjung Priok Port.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said that the current progress of the construction has reached 55.8 percent. He also expressed hope that the construction will be completed on time according to the contract target in April 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must increase the number of workers and equipment so that the construction can be completed on time,\u201d Basuki said in his on-site inspection, Thursday (28\/11).<\/p>\n<p>According to the Minister, the access road is built using elevated constructions since the ground condition around the site is dominated by rice fields with soft soil contours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we built it with conventional construction, rice fields and irrigation channels will be disappeared. Since the construction of new roads is usually followed by the rapid growth of local residents\u2019 activities such as settlements and shops, therefore we decided to apply elevated construction,\u201d Basuki said.<\/p>\n<p>The construction, Basuki continued, is one of the follow-up meetings between President Joko \u2018Jokowi\u2019 Widodo and Chairman of the Japan-Indonesia Association\u2014which also former Japanese PM\u2014Yasuo Fukuda last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Access Road is part of the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan with a loan scheme involving contractors from lending countries,\u201d Basuki added.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, the Patimban Port Access Road construction contract and supervision consultant were signed on 14 August 2018 with the contractor namely state-owned construction company PT Pembangunan Perumahan, PT.
