President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo on Monday (27\/1) handed over 2020 land certificates at Wahana Ekspresi Poesponegoro Building, Gresik, East Java Province.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the President said that in 2015, out of 126 million parcels of land, 86 million of them were without any certificate. He added that he set the target of 5 million registered parcels of land in Indonesia in 2017, 7 million in 2018, and 9 million in 2019.

\nThe certificate, according to the President, is evidence of legal ownership of land. “Please keep the certificate well, cover it with plastic, and make a copy so that when the original is lost, the copy can be used to process for replacement,” the President said.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also reminded the certificate recipients to calculate well if they want to use land certificates as collateral of the banking loan and they should use the loan for productive things such as working capital or investment, not for consumptive things like buying vehicles.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning\/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR\/BPN) Sofyan Djalil said that in 2019 the National Land Agency (BPN) has produced 11,200,000 land certificate.<\/p>\n

“In East Java Province, 10 million parcels of land are registered, and 9.4 million have not been registered,” the Minister said, adding that all parcels of land in East Java would be registered no later than 2024. “Village-based registration has made clear village boundaries,” Sofyan added.<\/p>\n

He further said that land certification has provided access to banking service for those who previously have no access to financial service. The land certificate holders, he added, can use the certificate as collateral.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, Governor of East Java Province Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that the land certificate recipients came from Bangkalan, Sidoarjo, Gresik and Lamongan.<\/p>\n

“The certificates that you receive can support economic empowerment,” Khofifah said.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the President during the event were, among others, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning\/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR\/BPN) Sofyan Djalil, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs)Erick Thohir, and Governor of East Java Province Khofifah Indar Parawansa.
