President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed his appreciation to the Supreme Court (MA) on the massive reforms of the judicial world to serve the people quickly and transparently as well as to provide justice and a sense of justice to the people.<\/p>\n

“The credibility of the judiciary is largely determined by the credibility of the judges. Therefore, reward and punishment must be applied consistently,” President Jokowi said at the Plenary Session of 2019 Annual Report of the Supreme Court at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Wednesday (26\/2).<\/p>\n

The higher the quality of human resources, the President stated, the better their quality of decisions will be. He also supported the steps taken by the Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission to improve the supervision of judges.<\/p>\n

“Clean and qualified judges must be given appreciation and honor, so as to create a clean, authoritative court, as expected by the people,” the President stated.<\/p>\n

The President realized that the challenges faced by the Supreme Court and its ranks are massive. For this reason, all of Indonesian people, he said,\u00a0 especially the disadvantaged families, should be more courageous in fighting for justice.<\/p>\n

“The people must obtain better and faster services amid increasingly complex problems,” President Jokowi said.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, President Jokowi also said that the people must obtain the fairest decision in the midst of the interests of the litigants.<\/p>\n

“We deeply appreciate the efforts of the Supreme Court to realize a simple, fast and low-cost court. There is e-Court, e-Summons, e-Filing, e-Payment, and also e-Litigation,” the President stated.<\/p>\n

Speed \u200b\u200band openness, according to the President, are important keys. In the future, it should be simpler, faster, and more transparent, so the results will be felt.<\/p>\n

“Of the 20,275 cases charged in 2019, only 217 cases remain unaddressed. This is the lowest number in the history of the Supreme Court,” the President said.<\/p>\n

In the framework of judicial reform, the President will also continue to support the Supreme Court’s efforts to improve the quality of judges’ decisions through improving the quality of human resources, both the HR of prospective judges and existing judges.<\/p>\n

“In the midst of the many promising new professions in the field of law, interest in becoming a judge must also continue to be encouraged, especially in entering the best law faculties so as to obtain better input of prospective judges,” President Jokowi said.<\/p>\n

Growing people’s confidence in the world of justice, he continued, is a very fundamental part of growing people’s confidence in the law.<\/p>\n

“We want Indonesian people to grow legal awareness and law-abiding culture so that the law appears not only in a repressive face which demands the work of law enforcers, but the awareness is already living in the culture so that the work of law enforcement officers becomes easier,” he concluded.
