In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Indonesian Government through Ministry of Religious Affairs encourages the people to commemorate the 2020 Easter Day and Vesak Day 2564 B.E. at home.<\/p>\n

“Soon, 7 May 2020, the Buddhist will celebrate Vesak Day 2564 B.E.. The Director-General of Buddhist Community Guidance invites you to celebrate it at home,” Director-General of Buddhist Community Guidance Secretary to the Ministry of Religious Affairs Nyoman Suriadarma said in Jakarta, Friday (10\/4).<\/p>\n

Not only the celebration of Vesak Day, Nyoman encouraged that other religious activities such as Pudja Bhakti on Sunday and Sunday School to also be carried out at home. He suggested that the Buddhist benefits from the technology to worship at home.<\/p>\n

“Let’s win the combat against COVID-19,” Nyoman concluded.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Ministry and the Catholic Church have agreed to cancel all religious and church activities which require people’s gathering.<\/p>\n

It is expected that the commemoration of Easter Triduum, namely Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil will be carried out modestly without gathering people.<\/p>\n

“The celebration will be carried out modestly in the Cathedral and Parish churches without gathering people,” Acting Director of Catholic Affairs to Ministry of Religious Affairs\u00a0 FX. Rudi Andrianto said in Jakarta (10\/4).<\/p>\n

The Catholics, he said, can still celebrate the Mass by watching the live stream from Jakarta Cathedral broadcasted on Youtube, state-owned television channel TVRI, and state-owned radio channel RRI.<\/p>\n

During this Easter, the Ministry invited the people to pray and strengthen one another from home.\u00a0 “Do it all with discipline. Be a hero. Protect yourself and others. Let’s win the fight against COVID-19,” Rudi concluded. (Ministry of Religious Affairs PR<\/strong>\/EN<\/strong>)<\/p>\n
