(Photo by: Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing is carrying on the construction of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Hospital as a referral hospital for COVID-19 patients in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. For the record, the construction was halted in 2010 when the progress reached 75 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono asserted that the completion of the project is one of program refocusing of the Ministry to accelerate the handling of COVID-19 pandemic. The referral hospital will have 107 beds for inpatients, isolation wards, and medical wards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the Ministry\u2019s Research and Development Body, the hospital still has a good building structure and is usable. Thus, it will be completed within a reasonably short time,\u201d the Minister said adding that the hospital which was built on a 8,600 m2 of land is projected to be completed at the fourth week of May 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The construction works consist of revamping building structure and rehabilitation of physical building. Revamping building structure consists of screeding, metal strengthening, and membrane structure improvement. Works of screeding and improving membrane structure of Building A have 100 percent completed, while metal strengthening which is projected to complete on 29 May 2020 has 10 percent completed. Meanwhile, work of screeding of Building B has 80 percent completed, metal strengthening has 10 percent completed, while membrane structure improvement which is projected to complete by the end of April 2020 has just begun.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding rehabilitation of physical building, the works consist of painting and installation of drinking water facility, electricity and fire hydrant. In Building A, the progress of installation of cable for electricity and pipes for drinking water facility reached 35 percent, while the installation of fire hydrant has 15 percent competed. In Building B, the progress of installation of cable for electricity reached 60 percent, and 20 percent for installation of pipes for drinking water facility.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 139 workers are deployed to complete the construction and always follow health protocols as well as safety aspects when performing their jobs, such as by keeping safe distance, wearing face mask, and staying out of crowds.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, in the implementation of program refocusing, the Ministry has completed the construction of observation\/isolation\/quarantine facilities in Galang Island of Riau Islands Province, and the rehabilitation of an emergency hospital in Wisma Atlet (Athlete Village), Jakarta. In addition, the Ministry has also prioritized and accelerated the realization of Cash Labor-intensive Program or People-based Infrastructure Program.<\/p>\n<p>In program refocusing, the Ministry also purchases 800 tons of resin produced by state-owned forestry company Perhutani to paint road markings, and purchases rubber from farmers in Lampung, South Sumatra, Jambi, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan for asphalt mixture.
