The Government has announced that the construction progress of the Pidekso Dam in Central Java Province has already reached 92 percent in the first phase of its construction.<\/p>\n

According to Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, the Government has been building dams in various regions across the country to boost food and water security.<\/p>\n

The Minister also said that dam construction projects are still under way amid the COVID-19 pandemic in order to keep the economy going.<\/p>\n

The construction projects, he added, will also provide employment opportunities for local contractors, consultants, and construction workers ans are also expected to boost national economic recovery in the new normal era.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, Basuki also pointed out that Ministry\u2019s Directorate General of Water Resources in the Bengawan Solo River Basin Center (BBWS) is finalizing the construction of Pidekso Dam in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java Province. The construction of the dam is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) in the field of Water Resources to strengthen national water and food security.<\/p>\n

“The Pidekso dam is a multifunctional dam with a capacity of 25 million cubic meters. It is designated to irrigate an area of \u200b\u200b1,500 hectares. The supply of irrigation water from the dam will increase planting intensity from 133 percent (2000 Ha) to 240 percent (3600 Ha). The operation of the dam is expected to encourage national economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, including in the agricultural sector,” Basuki said.<\/p>\n

Basuki further said that the dam, which is located in the upstream area of the Bengawan Solo River, was built to support the development of 1,500 Ha irrigation water supply infrastructure that can accommodate 300 liters of water per second for Wonogiri Regency, Sukoharjo Regency, Solo and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

In addition, the dam is also expected to serve as a flood control, a conservation area, and a tourist destination in an effort to improve the welfare of people in the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

The dam also has a capacity of 25 million cubic meters.<\/p>\n

The construction of the dam was carried out by state-owned construction company PT PP with a budget of Rp436.9 billion taken from the State Budget of Rp436.9 with the construction period of 2,549 calendar days (from 2 January 2015 to 25 December 2021).<\/p>\n

The construction work of water-retaining structure (the dam) began in the middle of 2018.<\/p>\n

The construction of the dam is expected to be completed in the second phase by December next year.<\/p>\n

The dam has an ogee type spillway without a door with a width of 55 meters on the left side of the dam. The part of spillway is divided into 4 zones, including an inlet zone, a transition zone, \u00a0a chuteway channel zone, and a carrier channel zone.<\/p>\n

The dam is 44 meters high with a width of 10 meters for its peak and the total length of 387 meters for the peak, as well as the type of random reservoir.<\/p>\n

Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has also been building seven other dams in the province, including Logung Dam in Kudus and Gondang Dam in Karanganyar Regency whose construction has been completed.<\/p>\n

The Ministry has also been building Bener Dam in Purworejo Regency, Randugunting Dam in Blora Regency, Jlantah Dam in Karanganyar Regency, Jragung Dam in Demak Regency, and Matenggeng Dam in Cilacap Regency. (BKP of Public Housing Ministry \/ EN)<\/strong><\/p>\n
