Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono on Thursday (6\/8) at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, delivered a statement on the celebration of 75th<\/sup> Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

“In August, there are several events (to celebrate the Independence Day) starting from 13, 14, 15, and 17 August. On 13 August, the event will be a ceremony of Presidential award at the Palace,” Heru said.<\/p>\n

Heru also said that this year\u2019s inauguration of the national flag-hoisting team (Paskibraka) will only be attended by 8 Paskibraka personnel who have been selected in 2019. For the record, as part of the measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19, there is no Paskibraka selection this year.<\/p>\n

On 14 August 2020, President Joko Widodo is scheduled to deliver State Address before the members of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly\/the House of Representatives (MPR\/DPR). Strict health protocols will be implemented during the event.<\/p>\n

For the main event on 17 August 2020, Heru explained that the organizing committee consisting of various Ministries would work together to organize events to celebrate the Independence Day. Various programs will be aired on television before the commemoration of the independence proclamation.<\/p>\n

“The flag-hoisting will be carried out by 3 Paskibraka personnel, plus a reserve team. During the ceremony, there are only 5 representatives for each service branch,” he said.<\/p>\n

Regarding the participants, Heru explained that the public could participate in any event virtually, while several officials and VVIP participants will also join the event via video conference.<\/p>\n

“This year, we provide 17,845 invitations for citizens who want to join the event via electronic media,” Heru said.<\/p>\n

According to Heru, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, and Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises will also organize events to celebrate the 75th Independence Day.<\/p>\n

“We should be creative (to organize the events) during the new normal and we will make use of the information technology. We will continue to carry out the ceremony with limited participants physically present at the Palace,” Heru said. (BPMI\/EN)<\/strong><\/p>\n
