{"id":199858,"date":"2020-10-13T18:16:18","date_gmt":"2020-10-13T11:16:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/?p=199858"},"modified":"2020-10-14T18:19:21","modified_gmt":"2020-10-14T11:19:21","slug":"higher-rainfall-predicted-by-year-end-bmkg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/en\/higher-rainfall-predicted-by-year-end-bmkg\/","title":{"rendered":"Higher Rainfall Predicted by Year End: BMKG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-199859\" src=\"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screen-Shot-2020-10-13-at-20.32.13-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"658\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has announced that rainfall with the intensity of 27.5 percent, which is above normal and beyond normal, is expected in several regions in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose areas are in the island of Sumatra, including Lampung province, South Sumatra province, West Sumatra province, parts of Bengkulu province, Riau province, parts of North Sumatra province, and parts of Aceh province,\u201d Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati told the press, Tuesday (13\/10).<\/p>\n<p>According to Dwikorita, the anomaly that occurred in Sumatra is due to local topographic condition, adding that the BMKG also predicted that high and very high intensity rain are expected in the southern, central, southeastern and northern parts of West Java province and the island of Sulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>Dwikorita added that in October-November, the La Nina climate anomaly is expected to occur in all parts of Indonesia except for Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven without La Nina, Sumatra\u2019s monthly rainfall is already high reaching more than 400 millimeters per month, namely in the western part of the island, from Aceh to Lampung,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The peak of La Nina, Dwikorita continued, is estimated to occur in December and is expected to affect the central part of Indonesia, including North Sulawesi province, North Maluku province, and the northern part of West Papua.<\/p>\n<p>Dwikorita further said that even without La Nina the island of the Java and western part of Sumatra are predicted to experience high intensity rainfall in December.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe peak of the rainy season is in January and February, while the peak of La Nina effect is in December,\u201d Dwikorita said, adding that the public must remain vigilant and careful of the impacts of this weather condition. <strong>(MAY\/FID\/TGH\/UN)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Translated by: Galuh Wicaksono<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Edited by: Muhammad Ersan Pamungkas<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
