Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Tjahjo Kumolo on Friday (27\/11) inaugurated Indonesia\u2019s largest Public Service Mall (MPP) located in the South Sumatran provincial capital of Palembang.<\/p>\n

For the record, a public service mall is a one-stop building where the people can process documents ranging from identity cards and passports to business permits. The facility was initially set up to serve only businesses\u2019 permit needs but later the Government has added other services for the general public.<\/p>\n

According to Tjahjo, the MPP must be a solution for the public in providing fast, friendly, and integrated services. Speed is the main concern of the facility, he added.<\/p>\n

The Minister also expressed hope that the local government will optimally use the MPP to give more effective and efficient services for the public in licensing and non-licensing permits.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe commitment of Governor of South Sumatra and Mayor of Palembang City is to serve the community; thus, the MPP was established. The goal is to make it easier for the public to process any type of documents such as identity cards, taxes, marriage proposals, and others under one roof,\u201d Tjahjo said.<\/p>\n

Tjahjo went on to say that the bureaucratic reform is one of the focuses of the administration of President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, adding that the measures was taken by streamlining bureaucratic channels so that the licensing process that previously took a long time can be completed in only a few days or even hours.<\/p>\n

He also expressed hope that the Palembang MPP can be an example of effective and efficient public services which contribute to boost investment, while spurring other regions to improve their service through similar facility.<\/p>\n

The Palembang MPP is the 30th<\/sup> MPP in Indonesia which has the most service units and the most complete facilities. In this MPP, 373 types of services from 28 agencies are available. The MPP covers up an area of 2 hectares, making it the largest MPP in the country.<\/p>\n

A number of service units that have joined the MPP include a number of state-owned banks such as BNI, BRI, Sumsel Babel Bank, state-owned electricity company PLN, regional-owned water company PDAM, state-owned health service provider BPJS Health and Employment, the Food and Drug Agency (BPOM), state-owned \u00a0postal office PT Pos, retirement savings company PT Taspen, mortgage company PT Pegadaian, state-owned insurance company PT Jasa Raharja, and the State Prosecutor’s Office.
