The Government has announced that the COVID-19 vaccination program will target 67 percent (107 million people) out of 167 million people aged between 18 and 59 years. In total, Indonesia needs to procure at least 246 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n

In the initial stage, on Sunday (6\/12) the Government had received 1.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine produced by China\u2019s Sinovac Biotech, while the remaining 1.8 million doses are expected to arrive next month.<\/p>\n

The Government has also prepared two vaccination schemes: the government (public) and independent (private) schemes. The government scheme will be carried out by Ministry of Health and the independent scheme will be rolled out by Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).<\/p>\n

Out of 107 million people targeted to receive the vaccine, as many as 75 million people are included in the independent scheme, while 32 million people are included in the public scheme.<\/p>\n

“Data is collected through an integrated information system ‘COVID-19 Vaccination One Data System’ under the coordination of Ministry of Communications and Informatics. The data collected will include personal details such as names and addresses,” the Minister said at a working meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Thursday (10\/12).<\/p>\n

The public scheme will cover medical workers in all health facilities, essential public servants, and vulnerable groups. Meanwhile, the independent scheme will cover members of the Social Security Agency for Health (BPJS), members of other health insurances, and individual.<\/p>\n

The public vaccination scheme targeting 32 million people requires 73.96 million doses of vaccine (two doses per person). According to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, the global average for the vaccine wastage rate is 15 percent of the total vaccine target.<\/p>\n

The independent scheme targeting 75 million people requires 172 million doses of vaccine with a wastage rate of 15 percent. Vaccine wastage is the sum of vaccines discarded, lost, damaged or destroyed, and used as buffer stock for possible shortages, for emergencies, as well as inter-regional relocation.<\/p>\n

For the record, the COVID-19 Vaccination One Data System is a system for integrating data from multiple sources into one data in order to prevent duplicate data.<\/p>\n

The system will record vaccine recipients by filtering individual data on priority vaccine recipients (by name, by address). Afterwards, it will become an application used for two vaccination schemes registration, and map the vaccine supply and distribution with vaccination locations.
