The commemoration of 2020 Nusantara Day amid COVID-19 pandemic serves as a momentum to reaffirm the maritime spirit in creating an advanced Indonesia, Minister of Communications and Informatics, Johnny G. Plate has said.<\/p>\n
For this reason, the Minister called on all elements of the nation to join hands and realize the big agenda of Indonesia’s Digital Transformation.<\/p>\n
“Towards 2021, Ministry of Communications and Informatics appeals to all elements of the nation to stand together to realize the big agenda of Indonesia’s Digital Transformation. Quoting Commodore Yos Sudarso\u2019s statement, the Minister said that we must ignite the fighting spirit in today’s Indonesia. We must raise our spirits to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The fighting spirit to revive the Indonesian economy: Triumphed Indonesia, Advanced Indonesia,” the Minister said in the commemoration of the 2020 Nusantara Day in Jakarta, Sunday (13\/12).<\/p>\n
The unyielding spirit to continue to transform, he continued, is part of the values \u200b\u200bof the struggles of our ancestors that the country must continue to adopt.<\/p>\n
“In the age of digital transformation, we, and the nation’s future generations, must stand ready to develop towards \u200b\u200bunlimited digital exploration,” he said.<\/p>\n
The Ministry, he added, is currently working on speeding up digital transformation through several constructive policies from upstream to downstream. They are as follows.<\/p>\n
First,<\/em> speeding up equal distribution of internet WiFi access for 3,126 health service facilities expected to be completed by the end of this year.<\/p>\n Second,<\/em> speeding up the expansion of the 4G network to 12,548 villages and sub-districts that have not been covered by the 4G network or known as blank spots, including in the 3T (frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged) or non-3T areas that are to be completed by the end of 2022.<\/p>\n Third<\/em>, supporting digital economy ecosystem and maritime economy. For this initiative, the Ministry has also initiated various training assistance programs such as the Go-Online UMKM, the 1000 Digital Startup Movement, the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA), and Go-Online Farmers and Fishermen.<\/p>\n “More than 600,000 participants joined the program in 2019, while this year a desk study is being carried out. Implementing programs with massive piloting plans will be carried out next year,” he said.<\/p>\n Fourth<\/em>, the Ministry in partnership with world-class consultants is currently devising a roadmap for Indonesia\u2019s digital transformation 2020-2024.<\/p>\n According to the Minister Indonesia needs a fast, reliable, and safe internet access and telecommunication networks and the internet will further strengthen a sense of diversity.<\/p>\n “Utilization of the internet from upstream to downstream, especially for digital economic activities, will speed up the realization of Indonesia’s vision as a world maritime fulcrum,” he said.
