The Government has announced that it has officially banned the activities and use of symbols of mass organization Islam Defenders Front (FPI).<\/p>\n

“The ban means that (the FPI) has no legal standing.” Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Moh. Mahfud MD said in a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (30\/12).<\/p>\n

According to Mahfud, since 21 June 2019 the FPI has been de jure dissolved as a mass organization, but as an organization, the FPI continues to carry out activities that disturb order and security and violate the law, including violence, sweeping (illegal raids), provocation, and other activities.<\/p>\n

The ban of FPI activities is stipulated in a joint decree of Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Law and Human Rights, Minister of Informatics, Attorney General, Chief of the Indonesian National Police, and Head of the National Agency for Counter Terrorism (BNPT).<\/p>\n

The decree stipulates that:<\/p>\n

First<\/em>, the Islam Defenders Front is an organization that is not registered as a mass organization as regulated in laws and regulations, so that it has been de jure dissolved as a mass organization.<\/p>\n

Second<\/em>, the Islam Defenders Front, as a mass organization which has been de jure dissolved, continues to carry out various activities that disturb peace, public order and violate the law.<\/p>\n

Third<\/em>, the Government bans the activities and use of symbols of the Islam Defenders Front in the jurisdiction of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Fourth<\/em>, if there is a violation to the provision intended by the third dictum, the law enforcement officials will stop all activities conducted by the Islam Defenders Front.<\/p>\n

Fifth<\/em>, the Government appeals to the public to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. not to be influenced by, and involved in, the activities of the Islam Defenders Front, and not use symbols of the Islam Defenders Front;<\/li>\n
  2. to report to law enforcement officials on any activities and use of symbols of the Islam Defenders Front.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Sixth<\/em>, Ministries\/Agencies that sign the Joint Decree must coordinate and take measures to enforce the law in accordance with provisions of laws and regulations.<\/p>\n
