President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo on Tuesday (9\/3) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, received seven members of Homicide Control Team (TP3) on shooting case of six members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI).<\/p>\n

In that meeting, the TP3 told the President that there is a strong indication of a gross human rights violation in the shooting case and appealed the President to bring this case to a human rights court.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey believe that there have been murders committed through a gross human rights violation that killed six FPI members,\u201d Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said in a press statement, at the Presidential Office, on Thursday (9\/3).<\/p>\n

On that regard, he said, the President confirmed that he had ordered the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) to exercise their duties without any intervention from other sides and report their investigation and recommendation to the Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Komnas HAM has submitted reports and four recommendations to the President so the case can be proceeded in open, just, and accountable manners,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Based on investigation, the Komnas HAM has determined that the killing of six FPI members by the police at KM50 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, Kerawang, West Java, is an ordinary human rights violation. On the other hand, the TP3 expressed belief that a \u2018gross\u2019 human rights violation was committed in that case.<\/p>\n

Therefore, Mahfud affirmed that the Government is ready if the accusation of a gross human rights violation can be proven. He added that a gross human rights violation is a violation committed in systematic, structured, and massive manners.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask the TP3 or other sides who have obtained the evidence to bring it to the court. If you are doubting the police or the attorney, give the evidence to the Komnas HAM. In fact, we considered evidence from Komnas HAM is plentiful,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
