(Source: pu.go.id)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has announced it continues to complete the final stage construction of Karalloe dam in Gowa Regency in South Sulawesi province.<\/p>\n<p>The dam is located 137 kilometers away from the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar.<\/p>\n<p>The dam, which has a capacity of 40.53 million cubic meters, is ready for impoundments or the first stage of water inundations aimed at maintaining sustainability of irrigation water supply for agricultural lands in the province.<\/p>\n<p>According to the official website of Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (12\/03), Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said that the management of water resources and irrigation would have to continue in order to support sustainable agricultural production.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister also said that the dam also has potential to provide raw water, to control flood, and to boost local economy through tourism.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, the progress of the physical construction of the Karalloe Dam, which has been constructed since December 2013, is above 90 percent.<\/p>\n<p>This dam is targeted to be finished in July this year.<\/p>\n<p>With an inundation zone of \u200b\u200b248.50 hectares, the dam&#8217;s water supply will be used to irrigate 7.004 hectares of agricultural land, to provide 440 liters per second of raw water source, to power 4.5 megawatt of micro hydro power plant, and to control flood in Gowa regency.<\/p>\n<p>The dam construction work is divided into two phases.<\/p>\n<p><em>Phase I<\/em> includes the construction of the main dam, dam spillways, relocation and rehabilitation of the road to the dam, and diversion tunnels. It was carried out by a state-owned construction firm PT Nindya Karya in which the cost is taken from 2013-2019 State Budget amounting Rp568 billion.<\/p>\n<p><em>Phase II, <\/em>which is budgeted at Rp657 billion, includes the dam body heap, excavation protection, hydro mechanical, instrumentation process, both mechanical and electrical instruments.
