Cabinet Secretariat as the Fostering Institution of Functional Position of Translators and Interpreters (JFP) has held a Technical Translation Training in the Tourism Sector for Batch I of 2021 that will take place from 15 to 22 March 2021.<\/p>\n

According to Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Administrative Affairs Farid Utomo, the training was a form of collaboration between Cabinet Secretariat and Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ministry of Communications and Informatics, and several regional governments.<\/p>\n

“The implementation of this training has proved that as the Fostering Institution of Functional Position of Translators and Interpreters, Cabinet Secretariat can synergize with all ministries\/institutions in supporting the Government’s programs,” the Deputy said in his written remarks read out by the Head of Cabinet Secretariat’s Government Translators and Interpreters Development Center (KaPusbinter) Sri Wahyu Utami at the Opening Ceremony of Technical Translation Training in the Tourism Sector for Batch I of 2021, virtually from the Cabinet Secretariat Office, Jakarta, Monday (15\/3).<\/p>\n

In his written remarks, Farid went on to say that Cabinet Secretariat regularly organizes various trainings for translators every year, including the trainings during the pandemic. The training adopted the theme of tourism since this sector was one of those most-affected sectors. On the other hand, the tourism sector is expected to be the backbone of the economic recovery.<\/p>\n

“We hope that the technical training can provide more knowledge and improve the competence of translators and prospective translators in carrying out official translation services, both translation and interpreting, so that the translators will be ready to become trainers of tourism actors in their respective regions, and will support regional governments in implementing foreign language training programs in the tourism sector,” he said in a written statement.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Kapusbinter Sri Wahyu Utami said that all participants of the training are expected to be able to teach foreign language skills to tourism actors who directly interact with foreign tourists, including crew members on tour boats, restaurant waiters, tour guides for recreation areas, lodging owners, souvenir sellers, and spa therapists.<\/p>\n

“In the future, it we hope that the tourism industry actors can improve their services that will bring a positive impact, including increasing the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia and the length of stay. The success of tourism industry actors in providing services will greatly accelerate economic recovery in the regions,” Sri said.<\/p>\n

Sri further said that as the Fostering Institution of Functional Position of Translators and Interpreters, Cabinet Secretariat is responsible to carrying out various functional and technical trainings to improve the competence of Functional Official of Translators\/Interpreters (PFP).<\/p>\n

“This translation training was designed not only to focus on the technical competency but also to focus on the managerial and sociocultural competencies that translators must have,” she said.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, Sri also said that the translation training adopting the theme of tourism received a positive response from the regional governments. Therefore, Cabinet Secretariat has planned to organize such training for the next batch.<\/p>\n

“The number of proposals for training participants from the regions is the basis for the re-implementation of Translation Training in the Tourism Sector for Batch II and III by the Pubsbinter in June and July 2021,” she added.<\/p>\n

For the record, the training activity was attended by 20 Functional Official of Translators\/Interpreters from 11 central and regional institutions, including Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Ministry of Education and Culture, West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, Lombok Timur Regency Government , Manggarai Timur Regency Government ,\u00a0 Minahasa Utara Regency Government , Manado City Government , and Tomohon City Government .
