President Jokowi opens the 20th Congress of Indonesian Muslim Students Movement (PMII) on Wednesday (17\/03\/2021) [Photo by: PR of Cabinet Secretariat]<\/p><\/div>President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo Wednesday (17\/03\/2021) reminded members of the Indonesian Muslim Student Movement (PMII) to be spearhead change.<\/p>\n

\u201cPMII must continue to grow and develop to become an innovative, adaptive youth organization. Also, you must be open to new things,\u201d the President said during the Opening of the 21st<\/sup> PMII Congress from the State Palace, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n

According to the President, the world is undergoing rapid changes that cause disruptions in all sectors of life, adding that, change is always unfriendly to those who are not ready for change and eager to learn to survive.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, President Jokowi also urged PMII members to keep up with the development of science and technology.<\/p>\n

“Mastering science and technology is fardhu-ain <\/em>(mandatory). Why? Because PMII is a laboratory for the Islamic youth leadership that will determine a progress or setback for Indonesia in the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for PMII members for their strong national commitment, for consistently speaking up for justice, and for positively influencing the younger generation with an Islamic spirit and nationalism to be more optimistic and tolerance in order to build peace in the community.<\/p>\n

The President also asked for support in term of participation and contribution from PMII members to resolve the Government\u2019s measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic, starting from the closest environment.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, the President expressed hope that the 21st<\/sup> PMII Congress, which is held in the East Kalimantan city of Balikpapan, will bear fruit for strategic programs that could solve various student, social, and national problems.
