Distinguished<\/span><\/span> Ladies and Gentlemen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A<\/span><\/span>ctually<\/span><\/span>, I<\/span><\/span> want to be physically present at this year\u2019s Indonesia International Motor Show<\/span><\/span> because I want the automotive industry in Indonesia to immediately rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also <\/span><\/span>my fervent<\/span><\/span> hope <\/span><\/span>that the industry will absorb more labors and stimulate <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>MSMEs (Micro, Small, and <\/span><\/span>Medium-sized Enterprises) <\/span><\/span>industry, as well as <\/span><\/span>to boost Indonesia\u2019s export in global market<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, we must remind ourselves that we are stil<\/span><\/span>l living <\/span><\/span>in a pandemic. We must remain<\/span><\/span> vigilant against <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>COVID-19 pandemic, yet we should not stop <\/span><\/span>stimulating <\/span><\/span>the economy<\/span><\/span> by taking into account vigilance and mindfulness. The balance between <\/span><\/span>\u201cgas and brake pedals\u201d in handling the health and economic sectors must be maintained <\/span><\/span>to ensure people\u2019s health and to stimulate the economy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A<\/span><\/span>utomotive industry has become an engine that drives the national <\/span><\/span>econom<\/span><\/span>y <\/span><\/span>that must <\/span><\/span>be <\/span><\/span>accelerated<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> It is because the industry involves <\/span><\/span>numerous <\/span><\/span>domestic enterprises<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>Participation of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises) in the industry\u2019s <\/span><\/span>supply chain must be increased, while <\/span><\/span>value added for domestic economy<\/span><\/span> must be prioritized. The most important thing is <\/span><\/span>the absorption of<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>local <\/span><\/span>labor <\/span><\/span>and improvement of<\/span><\/span> people\u2019s welfare<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> which <\/span><\/span>become<\/span><\/span> our goals.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, we must <\/span><\/span>begin transformation into <\/span><\/span>a <\/span><\/span>green technology<\/span><\/span>. Green technology is predicted to become our <\/span><\/span>mainstay considering our huge potentials in this sector. The use of renewable energy such as B30, B100 must be carried on. Development of electric vehicle <\/span><\/span>(EV) <\/span><\/span>must also be accelerated <\/span><\/span>which is expected to become one of the country\u2019s priority <\/span><\/span>industrial sectors<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Distinguished business players in automotive industry,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is our priority to attract more investment to automotive industry. The Government <\/span><\/span>continues to <\/span><\/span>strive <\/span><\/span>to <\/span><\/span>improve Indonesia\u2019s investment climate. We have issued <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>Job Creation Law. We have also established <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>Indonesia Investment Authority<\/span><\/span> (INA)<\/span><\/span> which is <\/span><\/span>expected to provide ease and certainty to the investor in <\/span><\/span>doing<\/span><\/span> business in Indonesia<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>T<\/span><\/span>he Government has also launched a <\/span><\/span>policy to relax <\/span><\/span>tax to boost product sales and increase<\/span><\/span> people\u2019s purcha<\/span><\/span>sing power in automotive sector, as well as to <\/span><\/span>boost demand that can stimulate the automotive industry.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Before entering this room, I have received report from Minister of Industry. <\/span><\/span>W<\/span><\/span>hat is the percentage increase for the purchase orders?<\/span><\/span> There is a 190-percent increase in the purchase orders. <\/span><\/span>It indicates that the products are not in stock and the production soars, meaning that the automotive industry has revived<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, Indonesia\u2019s <\/span><\/span>Purchasing\u00a0Managers\u2019\u00a0Index<\/span><\/span> (PMI) based on IHS <\/span><\/span>Markit\u2019s<\/span><\/span> survey was recorded at 53<\/span><\/span> percent<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>while <\/span><\/span>Bank Indonesia\u2019s <\/span><\/span>Prompt Manufacturing Index<\/span><\/span>\u00a0has reached\u00a055 percent<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>Before the pandemic, the figure only reached 51<\/span><\/span>;<\/span><\/span> it is such a leap.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We must maintain th<\/span><\/span>e <\/span><\/span>revival of automotive industry <\/span><\/span>amid the COVID-19 pandemic which currently shows no sign of abating<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>Do <\/span><\/span>remain <\/span><\/span>vigilant. Many countries have suppressed<\/span><\/span>\u00a0COVID-19 active cases, but when they <\/span><\/span>were not able to maintain their vigilance, the cases have soared again. Thus, we must maintain it. <\/span><\/span>January<\/span><\/span> saw <\/span><\/span>Indonesia<\/span><\/span>\u2019s daily COVID-19 positive cases <\/span><\/span>at the range of <\/span><\/span>13,000, 14,0<\/span><\/span>00, and 15,000 cases. We <\/span><\/span>managed<\/span><\/span> to reduce the figure in the next following three weeks to the range of 6,000, 5,000<\/span><\/span>, and 4,000 cases; the figure was fluctuated within the range. We should be able to maintain the figure so that the cases continue to decline. Indonesia\u2019s recovery rate also exceeded 90 percent, 90.5 percent to be exact. It is above the <\/span><\/span>global <\/span><\/span>average recovery rate<\/span><\/span> and Asia\u2019s average recovery rate. This must be maintained.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To that end, the Government <\/span><\/span>also expressed hope that production capacity in automotive industry is to be further increased<\/span><\/span>. Once again<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> we hope the <\/span><\/span>production ca<\/span><\/span>pacity in automotive industry<\/span><\/span> is <\/span><\/span>to be further increased<\/span><\/span> through the utilization of local content. The industry should not only be focused in domestic market but also to enter global market<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>I have noticed the ongoing progress, yet we want it to be further improved.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Through <\/span><\/span>this <\/span><\/span>exh<\/span><\/span>ibition<\/span><\/span>, Indonesia\u2019s good reputation in automotive industry will be established. The event also <\/span><\/span>reflected our preparedness to host the international automotive events, including <\/span><\/span>MotoGP<\/span><\/span> to be held in <\/span><\/span>Mandalika<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Formula E<\/span><\/span> in Jakarta, and other international events.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

That concludes my remarks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
