The Government has launched the 2020-2024 National Action Plan for Preventing and Combating Violent Extremism that Leads to Terrorism.<\/p>\n

The Action Plan is based on Presidential Regulation Number 7 of 2021 and aims to improve protection of the rights to freedom from acts of extremism and terrorism.<\/p>\n

“The Action Plan is part of the manifestation of the Government obligation to protect human rights and maintain national security,” Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said during the launching of the Action Plan in Jakarta, Wednesday (16\/06\/2021).<\/p>\n

According to the Vice President, the very dynamic development of communication and information technology has caused the flow of information to spread rapidly across borders of countries, including information about values \u200b\u200bof radicalism and extremism.<\/p>\n

The phenomenon, he added, can increase the uncertainty and complexity of international, regional and domestic issues.<\/p>\n

The Vice President also invited all stakeholders to join hands in implementing the Action Plan in a comprehensive manner.<\/p>\n

He also put emphasis that acts of extremism and terrorism have nothing to do with any particular religion.<\/p>\n

“No single religion teaches its adherents to commit extremism and terrorism,” he stated.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Boy Rafli Amar said that Presidential Regulation Number 7 of 2021 aims to improve protection of the rights to freedom from acts of extremism and terrorism. The Government measures in this matter are manifested in strategies and main programs consisting of three pillars.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first pillar, namely prevention pillar consists of preparedness, counter-radicalization, and de-radicalization. The second pillar is law enforcement, protection of witnesses and victims, and the strengthened national legislative framework.
