President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo, Friday (13\/08), welcomed Indonesian contingent who have competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics at Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java province.<\/p>\n

The President expressed gratitude for the safe arrival of all athletes of the Indonesian contingent in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people and I are very proud of your fight and hard work that you have done in Tokyo. Thank you to all athletes, coaches, officials, companions, and chefs-de-mission, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, and all parties that have made this event successful,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the Head of State also once again congratulated and expressed appreciation to athletes who have succeeded to win medals for Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for the gold medal given by women\u2019s doubles badminton pair. It continues the tradition of (achieving) Olympic gold medals in badminton for Indonesia. Once again, congratulations for the champions, gold medal won by women\u2019s doubles pair Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President also congratulated and expressed appreciation to Eko Yuli Irawan who won silver medal in men\u2019s 61-kilogram weightlifting event and to bronze medal winners, namely Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in badminton men\u2019s singles, Windy Cantika Aisah in women\u2019s 49-kilogram weightlifting, and Rahmat Erwin Abdullan in men\u2019s 73-kilogram weightlifting.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the President also gave bonus as an award for the athletes and their coaches.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor gold medal winners, (the bonus is) Rp5.5 billion. For silver medal winner, Rp2.5 billion. For bronze medal winners, Rp1.5 billion. Bonus is also given to coaches and athletes who did not win medals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Closing his statement, the President expressed hope that the achievements made by Indonesian athletes at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics can inspire Indonesian people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope the achievements that you made can be an inspiration, can be an example, can be a drive and motivation for athletes and all of our people to continue to work hard, make achievements, and give the best to their nation and country,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali in his report stated that at the most prestigious sports event in the world, Indonesian contingent, consisted of 28 athletes and 26 officials, participated in eight sports events, namely badminton, weightlifting, archery, athletics, surfing, shooting, rowing, and swimming.<\/p>\n

Indonesia, Zainudin added, won five medals, particularly one gold medal, one silver medal, and three bronze medals.<\/p>\n
